"Rosebud"
#86
By Sarah J. Arruda
Faery Haven Original Sculptures

This auction is for Rosebud, a young Flos Fatum, or more commonly known as a Flower Faery.  Flower Faeries are in charge of taking care of the flowers, once the Spring and Summer Faeries grow the green leaves of all the plants.  The Flower Faeries then see to it that that each flower produces buds and they are also traffic directors for the bees.  If you have a garden, you will most likely have one or two Flower Faeries  inhabit it.  They love the company of other Flower Fae, but can also be spotted singing and cooing to the tiny flower buds.  As long as you take care of your garden, the faery will return each year and take care of the buds, but do not anger them, or you may find that your flowers have mysterious disappeared and all that is left is stems.

Rosebud is completely hand sculpted from polymer clay, without any use of molds.  The clay has been left its natural color, with hints of blush to achieve a realistic skin tone.  She is finely detailed, right down to his tiny fingernails and toenails.  She even has tiny creases in her feet!  Rosebud's dress is made from irridescent findings and pink gauze.   Her finger and toenails have been sculpted from clay, then applied one by one.  Her wings are made from flexible clay and wire which makes them durable and may be carefully posed.   She has haunting green eyes that have been hand painted using thin layers of paint to create the illusion of depth.  Her hair is pink Tibetan Lamb, applied lock by lock.  Rosebud is meant to appear in mid-flight and is suspended from an invisible line which has a hook at the other end for easy hanging.

Faery Haven Info: Artist Sarah Arruda sculpts wonderfully whimsical creatures from the depths of her imagination. All creations from Faery Haven are one of a kind, and never made with the use of molds. Each whimsical character is beautifully unique, each displaying a different look and personality. Most sculptures are created with wire armatures for support and for a more realistic posture. Costuming is always done by the hands of the artist, as well as the painted features, and the dying of the hair.
