"Granny Sugarplum and the Spring Babies" Sold Deep in the forest they call Hunter Ridge is a sanctuary for the believers and fair folk alike. This is a place where only the true of heart may enter the Great Oak which beholds the doorway to Faery Haven...
Granny Sugarplum is an elder for the Hunter clan of faeries that live on Hunter Ridge. She used to be a Spring Faery, but long ago retired and now takes care of the new Spring babies that have just recently hatched from flower buds. Granny Sugarplum is one of the oldest in her clan, and though she doesn't look a day over 800, rumors say is at least 1000 years old. She is very kindhearted and so much enjoys spending time with the newest additions to her clan, Greenlee, Kele, and Flora. This auction is for all four sculptures! This auction consists of Granny Sugarplum, and all three babies shown in the pictures. Also included in the auction is a mossy base, two baby nests (one with a beaded mobile), and a mushroom seat for Granny to sit on. Granny is poseable at the shoulders, elbows, thighs, and knees. This is so she may interact with the babies. She is hand sculpted from polymer clay with special attention to details. She has wrinkles all over her sweet face and she also has fingernails that have been sculpted from polymer clay and attached one by one. Her eyes have been painted violet using many thin layers of paint to create the illusion of depth. The babies are all completely sculpted from polymer clay and each has a different facial expression. All the wings are made from liquid polymer, with wire, and iridescent material to give them that faery look. Granny is about 6 1/2 inches high and the babies are about 2 1/2 inches long. Faeries resemble humans much more than other groups of wee folk. Though they may look humanistic, they have an other worldly quality. They are often delicate both in appearance and attitude. There are faeries for many things in nature, such as Frost Faeries, Dewdrop Faeries, Autumn Faeries, Flower Faeries, Dark Faeries, House Faeries, and Forest Faeries, just to name a few. Faeries are fierce nature lovers, vain, hard working, mischievous, fun loving, and mirror all spectrums of the human personality.
All Faery Haven sculptures are PURE SCULPTS. This means they are completely hand sculpted WITHOUT any use of molds. They each start out as a lump of clay that is formed solely by the hands of the artist. Each is its own unique being. Artist Sarah Arruda has been featured in several publications including: Contemporary Doll Collector (May 2003 issue)
