"Brody the Brownie"
Deep in the forest they call Hunter Ridge is a sanctuary for the believers and fair folk alike. This is a place where only the true of heart may enter the Great Oak which beholds the doorway to Faery Haven...
Grandma Linda and some of her Brownie friends had just finished cleaning up the kitchen for the night. Grandma thanked all her little helpers with sliced up bread heels covered in honey. Most of the Brownies go to different parts of the house after Grandma and Grandpa go to bed. Only one Brownie, Brody, remained close to the kitchen to do some tidying up. All the lights were off with the exception of the warm glow of fireflies who aided the Brownies during their work.
As Brody was busy sweeping off the hutch, he heard a noise coming from the kitchen. It sounded like someone getting into the glass containers on Grandma’s counter. This was not the first night this had happened. The night before, Brody had tried to explain to Grandma and Grandpa’s granddaughter, Heather, that something was in the kitchen. Brody rushed into the room only to find crumbs all across the counter. Brody was confused. He looked all about, but couldn’t find the culprit. Brody swept up the mess, and went back into the dining room.
A few moments later, Brody was startled by breaking dishes. He flew into the kitchen to find broken dishes all around the candy jar. This time Brody was determined to figure out who kept making a mess in the kitchen. He cleaned up the mess and hid behind the candy jar, leaving the lid off. A short time later, Brody began to smell a sweet aroma fill the room. It smelled like freshly baked cupcakes. Brody then noticed four pale figures move swiftly into the room. They giggled as they saw the candy jar open.
The creatures, Brody soon recognized as Sallow Brownies. Although a close cousin to the Scottish Brownie, they were nowhere as helpful or as nice as the Brownie. The Sallow Brownies crept closer until each had crawled into the candy jar. Just as the last creature was in, Brody quickly flew up and put the lid on the jar!
Then next morning, Grandma awoke to find Brody guarding the candy jar, with four sour looking faces peering out. Grandma said that they looked so sweet, and couldn’t believe that they would cause such trouble! She also thought that they carried a scent of cupcakes, and called them as such. She scolded the Cupcakes, and asked the Brownies to escort them back to Faery Haven, so they wouldn’t cause any more harm in the kitchen. Grandma rewarded Brody with a new little broom, and all the honey and cream he could eat!
This auction is for a little Brownie named Brody. He is a very hard worker, and always looks out for the human whose house he inhabits. Brody loves honey and cream, especially on heels of bread. He is carefully sculpted with careful attention to detail. He is approximately 5 1/2 to 6 inches in height. Brownies are a brownish colored wee folk that aid humans in household chores. They have black eyes, tattered clothes, and have so little of a nose that it appears to be just nostrils. They do chores for their human family at night while the rest of the family sleeps. They will stay at a home indefinitely, as long as they are not offended. Reward your Brownie with gifts of cake and cream, but never leave him new clothes, no matter how tattered his may look. One sight of the new clothes and the Brownie will go into a fit of rage, offended by the gesture. He will leave the house immediately and never return. Also never criticize a Brownie's work, as this too will cause the Brownie to leave, but not before he makes a mess of things. A Brownie is protective of his home and is good for keeping those pesky goblins away.
All Faery Haven sculptures are PURE SCULPTS. This means they are completely hand sculpted WITHOUT any use of molds. They each start out as a lump of clay that is formed solely by the hands of the artist. Each is its own unique being.
